Color Atlas of Fish Histopathology. Vol. 2 \34,000 edited by Teruo Miyazaki Ph.D. Mie University. 338p. 2007 This book is the second volume of "Color Atlas of Fish Histopathology". whose first volume was issued in 1982 and described 36 bacterial diseases, 4 intoxications, 18 tumorous diseases and 13 nutritional diseases. This volume describes 13 RNA virus diseases, 15 DNA virus diseases, 7 fungal diseases and 50 parasitic diseases. Both volumes displays mainly histopathological features as well as external and anatomical features. Over the past 30 years I have collected and photographed a great number of fishes with infectious diseases by viruses, fungi and parasites in addition to bacteria. This book should greatly assist readers in recognizing the histropathologies of these infectious diseases. Especially with viral diseases, high resolution electron micrographs show the ultrastructures of virus-infected cells, and the morphology and morphogenesis of virus particles. These images should be impressive to readers who are interested in virology. With parasitic diseases, the pathogens include members from most phyla (from Protozoa to Arthoropoda). Many text books describing fish diseases have been issued. However, these books describe the histopathology with only a limited number of pictures. This is an impediment to understanding fish pathology and histopathology. If readers who are interested in fish diseases read the two volumes of "Color Atlas of Fish Histopathology" together with text books, readers will nearly completely understand known fish diseases. Volume 1: 212p. 1982 \28,000 |

MACROPODS: Their Care, Breeding, and the Rearing of Their Young J/Y4,200 by D.McCauley.352p.2004−CD−ROM This 350-page book was designed as a "How and Why Book," informing readers not only how to manage their macropods effectively but why their management should be conducted in a certain manner. Author David McCauley's focus in writing this book is to provide the proper informationwritten in layman 's terms and to also answer the questions a veterinar-ian would require in treating macropods in any medical situation. He also includes extensive technical information for the person conducting macro-pod research. Learning the practical and the scientific aspects of macropod care is where true understanding comes from. The author's intent is not to scare or steer people away from macropod ownership, but to inform and educate inexperienced and prospective mac-ropod owners (and their veterinarians) so as to encourage responsible man-agement and ownership, and also to serve as an easy and quick reference tool. A Iot of practical preventative medicine techniques are also incorpo-rated into this book as an aid to effective management. |
